ART- HOOPS OF LIFE
In November 2022, and May and June of 2023 Simon Alcantara exhibited his art installations and jewelry collections titled "Beauty and Grace" and “Plexus Solaire” at the Void+ Gallery in Tokyo, Japan. The art pieces were enormous meticulously handwoven "Hoops of Life," ranging from eight to twenty-four inches in diameter, which were installed to appear as if they were floating in mid-air. The Plexus Solaire installation also included floating round mirrors of various sizes in rose gold, yellow gold, and white gold.
As Max Richter's modernistic interpretation of Vivaldi's Four Seasons played in the background for Beauty and Grace, and Simon’s playlist for Plexus Solaire played for Plexus Solaire, viewers walked through the space, and the Hoops of Life and mirrors moved and spun, creating various configurations in the space and shadows on the wall and reflections of the surroundings. The Void+ gallery has two floor-to-almost-ceiling windows on one side, and as the light changed throughout the day, the dance of shadows on the wall also changed, creating a magical atmosphere. It was interesting to witness bodies interacting with the installations, and a constant comment we heard was how meditative the Beauty and Grace installation was, and how captivating and dynamic the Plexus Solaire installation was.
The exhibition was sponsored by The Salon by Norh, led by Ms. Hono Uehara an exceptional fashion leader with over twenty years of experience in the industry. The concept of the Salon by Norh is to provide an inspiring experience to their clients, with a wholly curated selection of Fashion, Jewelry, Music, Scents, Space, Art, and more.

Plexus Solaire
“With the Plexus Solaire collection and installation, I invite you to embrace your inner strength and step boldly into your power.”
“My collection, Plexus Solaire, and its accompanying art installation celebrate the radiant and empowering energy of the solar plexus chakra. This chakra is believed to be associated with certain emotional and spiritual states and is located in the third chakra in some Eastern spiritual traditions. It is associated with personal power, confidence, willpower, and self-esteem.
The solar plexus chakra is commonly represented by shapes that embody the energy and qualities of the chakra. For example, the upward-pointing triangle represents the energy rising up from the lower chakras and culminating in the solar plexus, while the circle represents wholeness, completeness, and unity. My logo pairs these two shapes.” -Simon Alcantara

The Symbolism of the Circle: Unity, Wholeness, Infinity, and the Monad
The circle is a symbol of immense significance and meaning, embodying concepts of unity, wholeness, and infinity, while also representing the very essence of creation itself - the Monad. By representing the Monad through the circle, we can understand that all of creation is ultimately interconnected and part of a greater whole, with each individual element contributing to the overall balance and harmony of the universe
The Shape of Sound: How Music Inspires My Art
“Music has a compelling effect on me, and I see shapes when I listen to it, much like architecture.
This ability proved very helpful in quickly learning choreography during my past career as a dancer.
When creating jewelry and art pieces, I translate the shapes that I 'hear' into my work and imagine how they will complement and interact with the movements of the human body, almost like a dance." Simon Alcantara
Chasing Perfection: The Role of Hand Weaving in My Creative Journey
“The core of my artistic practice revolves around hand weaving - a technique that I use consistently throughout my work, ranging from the most intricate to the most minimalist pieces. Hand weaving holds a deep connection to my ancestral roots, and I view it as a crucial element in my creative process. My dedication to refining my weaving skills is unwavering, as I aim to achieve a level of mastery that is as close to perfection as possible.” Simon Alcantara
